Job Profile
The company is looking to hire a Welder who will set up, operate, or tend welding or robotic machines to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Experience
- Possess a minimum 3 years of experience in welding
Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, and remove rough spots, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Fabricate, join, or repair equipment, fixtures, and various types of metal objects and structures using MIG or Robotic welding techniques.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
- Operate and set up all welding equipment with minimal instruction.
- Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
- Prepare all material surfaces to be welded.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
- Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Must be able to read shop drawings and instructions; to accurately use and read measuring tools
- Work in a fast-paced environment in order to keep up with production requirements
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to talk or hear
- Frequently required to stand for long periods of time, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
- Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat and often exposed to the risk of radiation
- Frequently exposed to vibrations
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
