The company is hiring a Machine Operator to join its team.

Education Level

  • 9th grade completion and be at least 18 Years Old

Work Experience

  • Preferably 1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Always follow proper lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Always wear proper eye and ear protection.
  • Be capable of figuring out yield studies of the product being run to ensure that we are not wasting wood.
  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize tooling for each profile and assist with tool installation and removal.
  • Demonstrate the ability to start up and shut down equipment.
  • Have the self-motivation to keep the machine running to get the best efficiency possible, a sense of urgency at all times to keep the machine center running safely and efficiently, or to get it back into production.
  • Keep the area clean and organized.
  • Keep the machine in a safe operating condition. Guards need to be in place, hoods down, etc.
  • Know how to read specs to ensure that you are running patterns correctly.
  • Know the different stocks used to produce all the different patterns that you’re moulding.
  • Make sure all employees in your area are following established safety procedures.
  • Make sure no doors, aisles, electrical panels, or fire extinguishers are being blocked with materials.
  • Must achieve LOTO certification.
  • Must be able to cut in stone for all our profiles, such as standard door jambs, brick moulding, center mulls, jamb extenders, etc.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the setup of the kerf saw and the infeed table.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure.
  • Must be well organized, the operator will be expected to prepare for changeovers by having all tools and equipment ready before setup starts (heads, stones, hold downs, etc.). This will help with quick and efficient change.
  • Must take responsibility and participate in the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program. All the moulders at Endura have a required PM schedule that the operator will assist with. Whichever shift the PM is scheduled, that operator must attend. This schedule may require overtime and Saturday work.
  • The handling of tooling (cutter heads) is extremely dangerous, and some are heavy to handle. Cut-resistant gloves must be worn when handling tooling. The transport of tooling on carts must be kept to a minimum of two 9” heads or four 4” heads or one 9” plus two 4”.
  • The operator must do all possible to make sure the machine is set up and running at the end of the shift before finishing each day. First shift is required at a minimum to stay until the next operator relieves his duties. The second shift operator is expected to stay and finish the setup, including setting all stones so the machine is in running condition.
  • Train crew to know the importance of quality, make sure they have a good understanding of the product that is being run, so that they have all the information to make correct decisions when grading.
  • Train the crew to work in a safe manner. Earplugs and safety glasses need to be worn. Hair up (if necessary); no loose clothing. Proper lifting techniques practiced, etc…

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Able to read, write, and understand how to interpret documents like specs
  • Basic math skills
  • Good hand-eye coordination

Work Environment

  • Be exposed to wood dust and aluminum with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent.
  • Climb and descend stairs/ladder as needed for the role
  • Do repetitive movements (hand, arm, leg; bending and twisting at the waist; bending at the knee; squatting; lifting, pushing, and pulling 35 pounds)
  • Handle, control, and feel raw materials and finished goods
  • Lift 35lbs
  • Stand for 10 hours straight
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes, sounds, or noise levels that may be uncomfortable
