Job Profile
The company is searching for a Maintenance Mechanic who will diagnose trouble, dismantle, repair, assemble, and perform scheduled maintenance on controls, engines, compressors, auxiliary, and various other types of compressor station equipment.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- Relevant natural gas or energy industry experience
- Industrial experience in a plant environment
- Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting large-bore reciprocating engines
Duties/Responsibilities
- Adhere to environmental policies by collecting samples
- Assist in assigning duties and monitoring operations and reports to the supervisor when required.
- Assist in planning work and participate as necessary in safety or team meetings and discussions
- Assist in the compilation of shipping manifests
- Compile or furnish information for miscellaneous reports and forms
- Compile the station’s operating budget and various annual operating reports
- Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc., in SAP
- Conduct NDI/NDT and ultrasonic testing when necessary
- Coordinate with gas control regarding the scheduling of maintenance to ensure the operation of the facility is at peak at all times
- Execute all planned preventative maintenance on prime movers or other equipment, such as web deflections, bump checks, crankshaft alignments, etc.
- Follow appropriate reporting procedures as they pertain to the associated cleanup of spills
- Inspect for gas leaks and assist in maintaining safety equipment
- Manage contractors and vendors while on-site
- Order/reorder necessary parts and supplies
- Perform maintenance, overhaul and repair of compressor station equipment by performing such duties as: dismantling compressor station equipment, cleaning parts, inspecting vital parts for wear, repairing or replacing worn engine parts, fitting, realigning and assembling equipment, starting up, checking and adjusting equipment for proper operation (setting ignition, timing, injection valve clearance, etc.)
- Perform preventative maintenance and overhaul of engines using micrometers, dial indicators, and miscellaneous hand tools
- Perform valve and operator maintenance
- Possess an in-depth understanding of the entire facility to operate, repair, train, and develop others
- Test and inspect lubricating systems
- Test overpressure protection devices and unit controls under recommended guidelines
- Troubleshoot automatic control systems (electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic), locating defective parts and correcting trouble
- Work from blueprints and construction drawings
- Other tasks as required
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to understand piping operating drawings
- Knowledge of internal combustion engines, centrifugal gas compressors, and standby generators
- Working knowledge of operations and maintenance of gas engines, compressors, automatic control equipment, gas engine-driven electric power plants, pumps, and other auxiliary equipment operated by internal combustion engines
Work Environment
- Be confined-space trained
- Be subject to working conditions that include adverse weather and temperatures
- Pass the respiratory fit test and use equipment such as SCBA and other respirators
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training, which would involve some overnight stays away from home
