The company is searching for a Pipe Welder/Fitter to join its team.

Education Level

  • Not mentioned, a High School Diploma (a plus)

Work Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of journeyman experience welding various types of materials
  • 1-2 years of experience as a helper in the welding field

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Accurately interpret and apply information from work orders, job orders, specifications, ISO’s, blueprints, or other drawings, and recognize basic blueprints or symbols for job application.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt parts to obtain the required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Demonstrate the ability to produce welds that are 100% X-ray quality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use alignment devices for fabrication.
  • Demonstrate the ability to weld together parts using any of the welding processes on various metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys, etc.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to qualify and pass all welding performance tests.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in safe rigging practices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the use of oxy-acetylene flame cutting equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of regulations governing quality control codes.
  • Identify, explain, and perform crane signals.
  • Identify, recognize, and demonstrate safe usage of hand tools and power tools appropriate for the job.
  • Recognize various materials used in the craft and demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate material handling techniques.
  • Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
  • Select and use equipment safely, which may include (but is not limited to) manlifts, forklifts, and company trucks.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Capable of operating cutting, grinding, and welding tools efficiently
  • Experienced in pipe fitting and alignment for various materials
  • Must own a welding machine
  • Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques
  • Skilled in reading blueprints and isometric drawings
  • Strong knowledge of safety procedures and welding codes

Work Environment

  • Exposed to high heat, fumes, and loud noise
  • May work at heights or in confined areas
  • Often works in shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Requires standing, bending, and lifting for long periods
  • Works in indoor and outdoor environments, often in tight spaces
