Job Profile
The company is hiring an Aerospace TIG Welder who will be responsible for welding various parts and components as required by the department, utilizing both manual and automated TIG welding processes on sheet metal and small diameter tubular parts.
Weld different metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, and aluminum.
Set up welding machines, making necessary adjustments, and prepping parts for welding according to work instructions and blueprints.
Work to tight tolerances to meet dimensional requirements, using specific methods, fixtures, and gauges, and collaborate with ME/Weld Engineers to resolve weld-related issues.
Perform special process inspections, including weld/macro, solder, dimensional, and leak tests.
Additional duties include media blasting, prepping, drilling, disassembly products, and using various hand tools and measuring devices.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
- Technical/Vocational training in TIG welding or 3 years of TIG welding experience
- Aerospace/Aircraft welding background
License/Certification
- Degree/Certificate in Weld Technology/Metallurgy
Duties/Responsibilities
- Acquire certifications and perform special process inspections, such as weld/macro, solder, dimensional, and leak tests.
- Collaborate with ME/Weld Engineers to resolve weld-related issues.
- Demonstrate proficient mechanical aptitude and use various hand tools and measuring devices, such as calipers, dial indicators, and borescopes.
- Perform additional departmental duties, including media blasting, prepping, drilling, and disassembly of products.
- Perform manual and automated TIG welding on sheet metal and small diameter tubular parts.
- Prepare parts for welding using work instructions and blueprints.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Set up welding machines and make adjustments according to work instructions and weld schedules.
- Weld different metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, and aluminum.
- Weld various parts and components as required by the department.
- Work to tight tolerances to meet dimensional requirements before and after welding, using specific methods, fixtures, and gauges.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Possess basic computer, math, verbal, and written communication skills.
Work Environment
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Able to work flexible hours/overtime as needed.
