The company is hiring a Welder II (Sensor) to join its team.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency
Work Experience
- 1 year of welding experience or successful completion of welding training at a trade/vocational facility.
- 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Transferrable TIG welding experience
- Experience in a self-directed team environment
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability and willingness to cross-train and perform welding functions in other areas or product lines outside of your home department.
- Ability to pass reviews for workmanship, procedure, operator assessment, and refresher training.
- Assist with troubleshooting of products.
- Communicate with the team to ensure all team members are aware of new processes or ideas, etc.
- Compliantly complete all written or electronic labor tracking documentation.
- Effectively and efficiently produce parts according to certification and quality guidelines
- Frequent interaction with internal or external customers and support functions (i.e., Planners, Engineering) outside of the home department.
- Maintain welding equipment, torches, coolers, hoses, cables, and other equipment as needed.
- Participates in and supports team initiatives.
- Perform set up of jigs and fixtures, non-structural tack welds, and secondary processing operations including sand blasting, wire brushing, and grinding.
- Perform wire welding functions.
- Proactively work to improve the efficiency and quality of products.
- Report problems to the appropriate resource or Coach.
- Understand and apply basic principles of TIG welding.
- Understands and abides by the GE Behaviors
- Utilizes proper PPE, safety equipment, and follows safety procedures per position requirements.
- Work in compliance with NADCAP requirements.
- Other duties as required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability and willingness to obtain certifications required for the department.
- Ability and willingness to pass the visual acuity exam upon offer.
- Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools and measuring devices (verniers, micrometers, calipers, go-no go gauges, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of computer applications.
- Basic knowledge of welding and fusion principles.
- Basic understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation.
- Basic understanding of weld symbols and schedules.
- Strong mechanical aptitude

- Ability to use Microsoft applications to analyze data (i.e., Word, Excel, Oracle, etc.).

Work Environment
- Ability to continuously use hands and fingers in repetition
