Duties/Responsibilities

• Analyze machining results and performance targets with budgeted times and communicate shift targets for jobs to be run in production
• Assist in providing feedback on prescribed processes, fixturing, and tooling to Manufacturing Engineers to ensure that off-line engineering is complete and optimize efficiency before online operations are performed
• Follow instructions to machine, fabricate, or assemble parts to print and operation sheet specifications using CNC machines
• Inspect parts before submission and as they are produced using standard gages, micrometers, indicators, vernier calipers, depth gages, and other measuring devices to ensure conformity to specifications
• Interprets CAD data, prints, and sketches regarding fabrication, and follows written instructions
• Maintain coolant levels and perform minor preventive maintenance on equipment
• Perform secondary operations during the machine cycle, such as deburring and straightening
• Select and install proper cutting tools, zero in the machine to control, and make other necessary setup adjustments
• Set up and operation of one or more computer numerical controlled machining centers for both horizontal and vertical machines. Performs such operations as drilling, milling, boring, and tapping, etc., on any/all types of work within the scope of the machine
• Support a flexible work schedule supporting overtime, off-Fridays, weekends, and/or alternate shifts to support product schedules as required
• Verify the NC code during the execution of the setup

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Ability to work varying shifts
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
• Understanding of G&M code
• Siemens 840D Control Systems (Celos)
• Mazatrol
• Mastercam/NX (a plus)

Work Environment

• Exposure to noise and metal shavings
• Must wear safety gear
• Shift work, including nights or weekends
• Stand for long periods
• Work in factories or machine shops
