Job Profile

The company is seeking a Machinist Mechanic who will handle ultra-precision machining and additive manufacturing in the development and production of complex optical components and sophisticated electronic systems.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Work Experience

  • Prior experience with machine maintenance, such as operating CNC machines through cycles to check the mechanical portion of electronic or electromechanical systems
  • Experience with Ladder Logic Programming (a plus)
  • Previous experience doing Ball Bar testing or experience with laser alignment systems for machine calibration.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Analyzing equipment malfunctions to determine if the machine failure is originating in the control systems or is of a mechanical nature.
  • Analyzing the results of the tests to locate and determine the cause of the malfunction.
  • Analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of CNC and multi-purpose mechanical or electromechanical control systems for industrial and precision equipment.
  • Modifying and adjusting settings to related equipment in order to properly align mechanical systems.
  • Operating the machine through necessary cycles to check the mechanical portion of electronic or electromechanical systems and detect any variations from specifications.
  • Performing incidental welding in conjunction with the normal maintenance activities.
  • Repairing faulty components, retesting the system or systems as necessary.
  • Setting up a variety of highly sensitive, precision test tools and equipment, and conducting a series of involved operational tests.
  • Testing and analyzing malfunctions, modifies, repairs, adjusts, and maintains mechanical portions of automatic control instruments and related recording devices used in the operation of industrial manufacturing equipment.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Familiarization with Mazak and Siemens control systems
  • Due to facility requirements, all candidates must be U.S. Citizens to be considered for this position and be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.
  • Knowledgeable in the setup of a variety of highly sensitive, precision test tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams, schematics, drawings, performance specifications, and operating requirements of industrial manufacturing equipment to include CNC multi-purpose mechanical or electromechanical control systems

  • Work around heavy machinery
