Job Profile
The company is searching for a Lead Welder who will drive sustainable continuous improvements across the Marine Business Unit, delivering breakthrough results in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and cost, while building cultural change throughout the organization.
Work closely with each plant’s leadership and department employees to achieve results.
Education Level
- High School Diploma (credible)
Work Experience
- Minimum 3 or more years of FCAW weld experience
- Proficiently perform flat (1F), horizontal (2F), vertical (3F), and overhead (4F) fillet welds
- Proficiently perform flat (1G), horizontal (2G), vertical (3G), and overhead (4G) groove welds
Duties/Responsibilities
- Follow all safety rules and practices.
- Follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Inspect your own welds to make sure all Quality requirements are met.
- Lead a team of welders to achieve production goals.
- May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Leadership skills
- May require extensive kneeling, bending, walking, or standing for long periods of time.
- May require working above ground (15 ft or more)
- May require working in narrow or confined workspaces for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to reach objects, comfortable with heights.
- Must be able to inspect own finished welds to meet quality standards.
- Must be able to perform welding work while wearing all required personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to, a filtering face piece or tight-fitting respirator.
- Must demonstrate ability to carbon arc gouge and to use the oxyfuel cutting process.
- Satisfactorily pass vertical and overhead fillet welding as well as groove welding tests using manual and semi-automatic welding processes.
- Understand weld layout and processes.
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
