Job Profile

The company is recruiting an NC Operator who will set up CNC lathes or mills, performing all machining operations.

Subject to short lead times and close tolerances continuously.

Be able to work to exacting tolerances, determine speeds and feeds, and sharpen own tools.

Must be able to visualize the finished product, recognize and report corrections in blueprint errors.

Education Level

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 2 years of shop training or equivalent (required)

Work Experience

• 2-4 years of experience in operating a CNC mill or lathe (required)
• 1-3 years in a manufacturing machine shop environment

Duties/Responsibilities

• Able to read and interpret written information.
• Actively engage in lean manufacturing principles and techniques
• Adjusts machine and acquires tools, fixtures, etc., as required for the job.
• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness;
• Meets productivity standards; completes work on time; strives to increase productivity;
• Must be proficient in the use of all types of gauges, micrometers, etc. Hoist fixtures, chucks, collets, etc. Normal hand tools for machinists. Drills, taps, bars, etc.
• Operates CNC lathes, mills, and other production equipment as required with moderate supervision.
• Participate in all plant safety initiatives and abide by corporate and local policies.
• Performs close tolerance machining operations such as forming, boring, turning, facing, drilling, tapping, honing, etc.
• Performs minor program edits as required.
• Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications, such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions, such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.
• Studies drawings, layout sequence of operations, and performs set-up.
• Works from drawings or routers.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Attention to detail
• Competency with shop math, blueprint reading, and CNC mill program editing
• Computer operations (Windows)
• Measuring tool competency, including calipers, measuring tape, and depth gauges

Work Environment

• Exposed to noise, vibration, and coolant or lubricant materials
• Must follow safety procedures and precision standards
• Operates CNC or NC machines for metal or plastic parts
• Stands for long hours, performing repetitive tasks
• Works in manufacturing or machine shop environments
