Job Profile
The company is looking to hire a Quality Inspector who will inspect and test purchased material, in-process material, and finished products to assure proper workmanship and conformity to approve standards and specifications.
Maintains quality records for all parts or railcars produced in the plant.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a High School Education or Equivalent
Work Experience
- Possess at least 1 year of shop experience in fabricating and assembly operations
Licenses/Certifications
- Requires certification as a VT Level 1 or AWS CW 1
Duties/Responsibilities
- Does first piece and layout procedures per plant system.
- Ensures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained.
- Examines finished products for acceptable weld and bolt applications, machined and finished surfaces, and proper component parts and sub-assemblies in accordance with specifications.
- Examines work for defects in material and workmanship using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, protractors or electronic instruments, tape measures, etc.
- Initiates and maintains inspection records; prepares reports of inspections made as evidence that proper quality is being maintained or when material or parts are non-conforming.
- Inspects and tests purchased material, in-process material, and finished products to determine quality and acceptability as to conformance with drawings, specifications, AAR rules, FRA regulations, and quality assurance standards.
- Marks rejects for scrap or indicates for permissible reprocessing; investigates recurrent defects and reports findings.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Group Leader of Quality Assurance.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Knowledge of product and material specifications, quality assurance inspection methods and procedures and manufacturing methods and processes.
