Job Profile
The company is recruiting an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer who will lead the implementation of automated manufacturing technologies and processes in a fast-paced CNC machining environment.
Design, plan, and deliver manufacturing system solutions that optimize cost, capital investment, and performance of highly automated machining cells.
Design and develop processes that are designed for optimal performance.
Research and monitor advanced manufacturing technology trends and appropriately integrate validated technology solutions into our global manufacturing facilities.
Education Level
- 4-year Technical Degree plus 3 years of related experience (intern/co-op experience will be considered) OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Experience
- Experience with capital project planning and execution
- Appropriate knowledge, demonstrated competence, and experience in manufacturing machining technologies and related industries
Duties/Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage projects to design, procure, qualify, and implement equipment and manufacturing processes while maintaining project schedules and budgets.
- Develop and advance new manufacturing technologies by supporting business cases through application in a relevant production environment.
- Facilitate and participate in kaizen events, workshops, and value stream mapping exercises to identify waste elimination opportunities in various processes and recommend improvement actions.
- Optimize processes associated with material/information flow, part work holding, tooling, and CNC programs to manufacture products to drawing dimensions and tolerances in an efficient manner.
- Perform design/manufacturing process FMEA activities, and determine the root cause of failures using statistical methods (e.g. Design of Experiment, Statistical Process Control, Root Cause Analysis, A3).
- Serve as technical support for assigned manufacturing responsibilities.
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify and address current manufacturing challenges across multiple product lines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Good organizational, project management, and presentation skills to interact with all levels within the organization and with suppliers and customers.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to recognize and solve simple and complex problems in manufacturing system design
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to collaborate on a cross-functional team
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- CNC programming experience with a 3D CAM software
- Experience in optimizing manufacturing processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Experience with equipment and process layouts
- Experience with fixture design
- Experience with solid modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks) and related tools
- Practitioner of LEAN manufacturing and application of LEAN tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Automation
