Job Profile
The company is seeking an Application Engineer who will design and develop components and systems per customer request, modifying existing designs.
Applies engineering principles to develop mechanical or electronic, electrical products, and systems that meet customer technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements.
Conducts mathematical modeling to determine if proposed designs are technically feasible.
Education Level

Work Experience
- Associate (2-year technical school) degree or certificate in a technical discipline such as mathematics, mechanical technology, or equivalent. (Bachelor in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Industrial Science, or other technical discipline preferred) or relevant training, education, experience in mechanical or electrical design for systems, products, and assemblies”
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assists with project management (i.e. obtain, evaluate competitive bids, and negotiate with suppliers; assist with production plans for projects, taking quality requirements and contract obligations into account)
- Defines customer product requirements, completes design specifications, and plans accordingly to meet customer requirements
- Regularly provides equipment, system, process, and training recommendations to improve reliability or performance. Follows through to completion. Fully participates in continuous improvement activities
- Resolves production problems that arise with the manufacturing team
- Review customer design requests, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility and cost of the requested system/product
- All other duties as assigned
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment
- Can draft using either AutoCAD LT or SolidWorks
- Computer software skills (e.g. Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Adobe PDF)
- Demonstrated technical expertise in specified product segment
- Exposure to or the ability to program PLCs and HMIs – Siemens Simatic S7, Allen Bradley RS Logix
- Highly organized, with attention to detail
- Sense of urgency; responds to requests on time.
- Strong (email, phone, web, and in-person) communication and customer service skills. (prior experience in a customer service role preferred).
