Job Profile

The company is hiring an Application Engineer who will develop and prepare technical solutions and commercial quotation proposals for rerating equipment to meet or exceed customer requirements.

Provide technical and commercial support for the promotion of the business, including strategic initiatives.

Interface with engineering and operational groups in the development of proposal information and material.

Assist in creating promotional material. Responsibilities will include rerating and modifying quotations.

Education Level

• Graduate with a 4-year BSME or BSChE degree or equivalent

Work Experience

• Preferably 2 years of experience, or more in rotating equipment (compressors or steam turbines) or equivalent experience in a similar industry.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Create a proposal including data sheets, scope, performance curves, pricing, delivery, comments and exceptions to specifications, and all other pertinent data.
• Define the scope of supply.
• Design rerates including performance and mechanical design analysis for the entire scope of equipment.
• Respond to customer inquiries for rerating equipment.
• Review inquiry to understand the goals of projects.
• Submit a proposal to sales and aid sales in presenting a proposal to customers if necessary.
• Work with the cost analysis department including hardware, labor, engineering, drafting, vendor-supplied components, and all other costs related to the project.
• Work with sales to develop strategy by understanding market trends, customer needs, budget, and competition.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to understand and balance internal cost structure, market value, and margin goals when pricing a project.
• Ability to understand and balance the inter-relationship between price, performance, delivery, and reliability when selecting/designing a unit.
• Application and design knowledge of rotating equipment as well as their related auxiliaries (i.e., gears, lube systems, etc.) preferred.
• Computer skills including IBM networks, application programs, Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, etc.
• Design/analytical skills in the application/design of bearings, seals, materials, thermal and dynamic stress and strain, rotor dynamics, etc.
• Extensive understanding of thermodynamic and aerodynamic concepts as related to the performance of turbomachinery including heat transfer, gas properties, efficiency, head, work, etc.
• Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills for preparing proposals, conducting meetings, answering sales/customer questions, and writing technical papers/articles/procedures.
