Job Profile
The company is hiring an Army Aviation Aircraft Welder who will provide welding support for engine, components, and support equipment at the highest quality and safety standards following applicable technical directives.
Educational Qualification
- Not mentioned, a High School Diploma (a plus)
Work Experience
- 2 or more years of experience in commercial welding (required). Aviation Welding experience is strongly desired.
- Maintain certification as a condition of employment
- Prior experience in welding on assigned engines (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Accomplish paperwork entries associated with maintenance tasks and the ordering of parts.
- Assist in performing sheet metal tasks to support the metal processing workload. Fabricate parts, stands, fixtures, and equipment as required.
- Determines serviceability of engine parts/support equipment.
- Must be able to weld a variety of materials such as aluminum, magnesium, alloyed and low alloy steel, stainless steel, and nickel alloy steel.
- Must ensure all applicable PPE is worn as required.
- Must know the materials to select the correct filler materials and shielding gas when generating the Weld Procedure Specification (WPS), and product flight critical welds and assist in the development of generating Weld Procedure specifications as mandated by welding codes and specifications.
- Perform inspections of engine/component repairs for quality and completeness.
- Performs fusion welding and torch brazing for ground support equipment, ensuring the procedure is completed per the requirements of the national welding and brazing codes and specifications American Welding Specification (AWS) D17.1M:2010 AMD1 Specification for Fusion Welding for Aerospace Applications.
- Weld, grind, solder, heat-treat, and perform sandblasting of engine and support equipment following the requirements specified in applicable technical manuals.
- Will be subject to review and approval from the COR before the operation of GFP welding equipment.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.
- Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings and welding symbols, and fabricate manufacture-welded parts from engineering drawings without direct supervision.
- Must be able to walk and stand on level or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Other Requirements
- The ability to be a Respirator qualified is required.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a Favorable NACI (T1) Public Security Clearance. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
