Job Profile

The company is searching for an Assembly Toolmaker who will provide tooling support to the assembly department.

Able to work at various locations within and outside the plant.

Can operate a variety of tools and machines within the assembly department.

Be responsible for ensuring that the Customer, People, and Investor goals are balanced and met.

Educational Qualification

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two years of college or Technical School or 5 years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of a 4-year Tool and Die apprenticeship program

Work Experience

  • Must have a minimum of 7 years experience with assembly tooling with a minimum of 5 years of specializing in new assembly tool construction and robot tooling.
  • Tool and Die Maker with related experience/familiarity with assembly tooling work.
  • Hemming die or clinch tool experience is a must.
  • Metrology experience is required including exposure to and using master-buck tooling.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Able to operate a variety of machine tools (i.e., Tig, Mig, Arc Welders, lathes, milling machines, etc.)
  • Able to set up appropriate tools in the department.
  • Able to work overtime as required.
  • Assure work performed complies with QS9000 standards.
  • Follow safe work practices and company work procedures at all times.
  • Maintain tooling Quality STDs and Preventative/Predictive Maintenance program to ensure compliance with QS9000 Requirements.
  • Services, maintains, and tests new or changed dies.
  • Troubleshoot problems during production.
  • Verify conformance of machines or repaired dies to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances, and alignments.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to communicate with all members of our organization and our customers. Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Receive and pass down information written and verbal.
  • Good hand dexterity, mechanical skills, mathematical skills, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Work Environment

  • 20% Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, or balancing
  • 80% Standing and walking
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs.
