Job Profile

The company is hiring an Assistant Manager (Fabrication) to join its team.

Educational Level

  • Minimum 4-year college degree in a technical discipline or commensurate experience.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of production supervisory experience in high and low-volume environments where multiple shifts of operation were in play.


  • Anticipating, investigating, and resolving departmental problems and conflicts.
  • Coaching and counseling direct reports and participating in establishing appropriate development plans
  • Contributing input and monitoring departmental budgets.
  • Determining needs and scheduling employee work assignments to meet department goals.
  • Developing and implementing processes to continue the transformation and adoption of Lean Manufacturing concepts to effectively meet all department goals
  • Developing and implementing processes to improve quality, delivery, and productivity, and ensure the safe performance of all functions in the department through the use of KPI boards
  • Direct responsibility for the 2nd shift fabrication operations in Dept. 464
  • Identifying individual training and skill development criteria to meet departmental/divisional needs
  • Initiating decisions regarding hires, promotions, corrective actions, and terminations.
  • Promoting safety awareness and housekeeping, and investigating and reporting on safety incidents.
  • Writing and conducting employee reviews


  • A history of team member development for upward mobility.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and good PC skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of lean manufacturing leadership, sustained improvements, and KPI attainment.
  • Proven team building and change management skills to coach, mentor, and empower team members throughout the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, e.g. 4-Step Problem Solving process.
  • Technical aptitude and knowledge of metal fabrication, machining, and finishing processes and equipment.

Physical Demands

  • Carrying: Occasional carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 to 35 lbs.
  • Lifting: Occasional lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 to 35 lbs.
  • Pulling: Occasional pulling of items ranging in weight from 5 to 35 lbs.
  • Pushing: Occasional pushing of items ranging in weight from 5 to 35 lbs.
  • Standing: Some tasks are performed in a standing position.
  • Walking: Frequent walking.
