Job Profile

The company (Boeing Defense, Space & Security) is looking for an Associate Tool/Fixture Specialist who will be responsible for fabricating, modifying, and repairing machinery, parts, tools, and assemblies using both manual shop and CNC-type equipment (mills, lathes, etc.)

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or GED) and typically 1 or more years of related work experience or an Equivalent Combination of Education and experience (e.g. Vocational School/Associate)

Work Experience

  • 3+ years of experience using hand tools or hand-held power tools
  • Basic computer experience and competency
  • Experience in machine shop processes, geometric dimensioning and tolerances, and machining capabilities of different types of materials
  • Experience operating CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machine tools
  • Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
  • Experience with metal fabrication and machining

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all safety and security requirements within the facility.
  • Performs metal fabrication and repair – primarily sheet metal (punching, bending, shearing, and welding).
  • Works in conjunction with engineering, operations, and quality to improve nonconforming parts, assemblies, manufacturing processes, and repairs
  • Works with minimum supervision to operate, and adjust all types of manual or CNC machinery by following manufacturing best practices, blueprints, schematics, process specifications, and engineering sketches, with oral instructions.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Preferred Qualifications-

  • Experience designing and building jigs & fixtures to locate and secure parts during the various fabrication and machining processes.
  • Experience in performing all aspects of machining including setup and operation of 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines, along with all types of conventional machine shop equipment to make precision parts
  • Experience welding (TIG), forming, and fabrication of various materials, including steel, stainless, and aluminum
  • Experience working with close tolerances .0001”
  • Experience working with Mastercam and Solid Works or equivalent 3D modeling software
  • Understanding of machine tool capabilities and limitations
