Job Profile

The company is looking for a Block Plant Supervisor who will be responsible for supervising the production of a quality product at acceptable cost levels. The responsibilities include the efficient and effective utilization of human resources, plant, and equipment.

Education Level

  • Associate Degree or equivalent in related areas
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Work Experience

  • 5 years of experience in a production supervisory role
  • Previous Production Management, Plant Manager, and Maintenance Management experience preferred

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Based on sales and inventory needs, schedule block plant production
  • Batch and adjust mix designs as required
  • From time to time, may be requested to assist other block operations employees in solving complaints
  • Hire, train, and supervise an adequate number of employees to meet the needs of plant operations
  • Ensures proper maintenance of plant production equipment to minimize lost production time. This includes maintaining adequate spare parts inventory
  • Ensures safe work practice by all block plant employees
  • Ensures that production meets or exceeds established quality standards
  • Maintain positive customer relations by responding to, and resolving complaints
  • Order supplies, parts, and materials required for operations
  • Orders raw materials to meet production and inventory needs
  • Perform moisture analysis on aggregates daily; adjust mixes for moisture content
  • Perform plant startup and closing procedures
  • Perform routine mechanical/electrical repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem-solving as needed
  • Performing bulk and physical inventories
  • Prepare daily production reports, downtime reports, and other paperwork as required using CEMEX-required computerized forms and systems
  • Responsible for filing and documentation systems
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment
  • Responsible for maintaining quality block production
  • Train and cross-train plant personnel as required
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to motivate the production team
  • Background in electrical and electronics areas
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic controls and assemblies
  • Basic OSHA requirements
  • Experience with the types of production equipment being used in the production process
  • Familiar with the mill supply industry concerning parts and purchasing
  • Field experience with construction particularly with the site contractors
  • Good communication and human resources skills are required
  • Knowledge of mix design and material requirements
  • Metal fabrication (welding and cutting)
  • Possess background with experience in materials engineering
  • Possess management skills
  • Strong maintenance knowledge/skills; strong electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of control circuits

Working Conditions

  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location

Physical Requirements

  • Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, or a negligible amount of force frequently. The job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods
  • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, or pulling controls
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Regularly required to talk and hear, to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
