Job Profile
The company is seeking a Buyer who will purchase raw materials and subcontract work.
Responsible for managing the cost and on-time delivery of purchased materials from assigned suppliers.
Coordinate supplier quality improvements with TrueNorth Steel quality team members.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Associate’s Degree in Business or related field or equivalent work experience.
Work Experience
- Possess a minimum of 2 years of purchasing/buying experience
- 1 year of Steel manufacturing experience (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist with developing and maintaining vendor qualifications/assessments.
- Communicate current material prices, lead times, and mill rolling schedules.
- May need to analyze multiple potential vendor solutions and make sound purchase decisions based on price, availability, and internal customer requirements.
- May work directly with the steel mills negotiating to price.
- Prompt and dependable attendance.
- Purchase steel, fabricated parts, paint, and accessories for TrueNorth Steel from currently approved vendors.
- Research new raw material supplier and subcontractor options for TrueNorth Steel locations.
- Other duties as assigned.
