Job Profile
The company is hiring a Cement Terminal Operator who will assist other Terminal Operators in repairs, installations, maintenance, and operations of all terminal equipment used in the shipping and transfer of cement and fly ash.
Must perform all duties in a safety-conscious manner and in compliance with all applicable environmental laws and policies.
The position reports to the Terminal Manager.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
Work Experience
- Possess work-related experience (a plus)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Inspect all machinery and equipment for defects daily
- Load and weigh bulk cement and fly ash trucks
- Maintain all mobile equipment in proper operating condition, including checks on tire inflation, brakes, water, and oil pressure
- Maintain bill-of-lading, certifications, and all other paperwork associated with loading and receiving cement and fly ash
- Operate moving equipment to spot and unload cement or fly ash railcars.
- Operate rail car mover and forklift to move materials throughout the terminal
- Operate weigh devices as Weigh Master
- Perform cleanup work in assigned areas
- Perform some welding; perform cutting and heating with Oxygen and Acetylene Equipment.
- Use dollies, hoists, and winches
- Perform other assigned work incidental to this classification
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in the English language
- Knowledge of hazards associated with areas of responsibility
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Operate Forklift and Railcar Mover
- Proper Personal Protective Equipment as required
- Use air, electrical, and hand tools such as chipping guns, jackhammers, wrenches, grinders, and drills of all sizes
Working Conditions
- Ability to see and hear safety indicators and warnings
- Must be able to walk long distances, climb ladders, stairs, and stockpiles, stoop, and crawl under and into enclosed spaces
- Must work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry or dusty conditions
- Will have exposure to all levels of noise that require the use of hearing protection
Physical Requirements
- Be able to work at heights exceeding 100 feet
- Climb ladders and stairs to elevations of 10 to 90 feet
- Must be able to lift weights of up to 100 pounds
- Work occasionally in confined spaces with low clearance requiring bending or kneeling
