Job Profile
Newmont Porcupine looking for a Certified Welder who must be competent in using all welding, burning, and shop fabrication equipment and be familiar with welding procedures.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in the field and fabrication shop environments.
Educational Qualification
- No educational level is mentioned, yet having basic education will be a plus
Work Experience
- Successful completion of apprenticeship contract and successful completion of trade tests through the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development and Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Align components
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or methods to be used based on task requirements
- Fabrication and repair of chutes and wear liners
- Follow all Newmont Porcupine safety policies and procedures
- Maintain equipment and work areas in a condition that does not compromise safety
- Operate fabrication shop equipment
- Read and fabricate from engineered prints while using shop equipment safely and efficiently
- Supply welding requirements to the mill, crushing plant, maintenance shops, and the open pit as required
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures for potential deficiencies
- Wear proper PPE including a half-mask respirator as required
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
- Work in confined areas as required
- Work independently in a safe and productive manner

- Complete field-level risk assessments and workplace inspections
- Correct and report unsafe practices and conditions
- Follow all Newmont Porcupine safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe and healthful workplace
- Make suggestions to improve any aspect of safety
- Responsible for his/her health and safety
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use personal protective equipment (face-shield, gloves, respirator)
- Must be willing to work with others
Working Conditions
- Work on a 4×3 schedule. As such, if you do not live near the site, we will require you to relocate
