Job Profile

The company is looking for a Certified Welding Inspector who will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of welded structures and components.

Be responsible for conducting inspections, verifying compliance with industry codes and standards, and providing technical expertise to support our welding operations.

Educational Qualification

  • Current and valid Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from a recognized certification body (e.g., American Welding Society – AWS)
  • API 1169 Certification

Work Experience

  • Experience in performing non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing, or radiographic testing.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with welding personnel, engineers, and project managers to address welding-related issues, provide technical guidance, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct pre-weld and post-weld inspections, including measuring and verifying dimensions, fit-up, and weld profiles.
  • Conduct visual inspections to assess weld quality, joint preparation, and overall workmanship.
  • Participate in periodic audits and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with established procedures and quality management systems.
  • Perform inspections of welded structures, components, and welder qualifications to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings, recommendations, and any required documentation.
  • Review welding procedures and related documentation to verify compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry codes, standards, and best practices related to welding inspection and quality control.
  • Utilize non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, or radiographic testing to detect and evaluate defects or discontinuities in welds.
  • Witness and document welder qualification tests, ensuring adherence to proper techniques and standards.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with stakeholders and provide clear, concise inspection reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify defects, discontinuities, and potential welding issues.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards, such as AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, or API 1104.
  • Physical ability to perform inspections in various environments, including climbing, bending, and lifting when required.
  • Proficiency in conducting visual inspections and interpreting welding symbols and specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess weld quality and recommend corrective actions.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, techniques, and best practices.
