Job Profile
The company is hiring a CNC Boring Mill Machinist (Die Shop) who will be responsible for machining the most complex components of the dies and working with engineers and NC programmers to improve die production and designs from a machining standpoint.
Education Level
- Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus
Work Experience
- 5-Axis CNC experience (a plus)
- 8+ years of operating experience on Large Horizontal CNC mills on Tooling work (High-Pressure Die casting, stampings, injection molding, etc.), particularly on 4140, P20, H13/H11 tool steels
- Experience with basic shop tools, Heidenhain CNC controls, maintenance, lathes, Gun drill, Mill-Turn, EDM or large format CNC experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Machine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials with tight deadlines
- Operate Large Horizontal CNC Mills in a low-volume/high-mix workflow
- Prove out programs on the floor with NC programmers
- Provide feedback to engineers, other machinists, and programmers on design and process improvement
- Read operator/process documents and perform setups and operations as described
- Tracking and documentation of machining processes and results when necessary
- Use various inspection and measurement tools to validate your work
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Excellent attention to detail, mathematical skills, and mechanical aptitude
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to develop and present technical information
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents, and GD&T
- Thorough knowledge of the use of measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, bore gauges, optical comparators, etc.
