Job Profile
The company is seeking a CNC Controls Technician with a specialization in the installation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and control systems and equipment necessary for the operation of CNC Machines.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED
- Technical School Certificate or Degree Program in Instrumentation and Electrical Maintenance or Controls.
Work Experience
- Previous experience with CNC Machines is preferable but will accept an Electronics Technician or Process Controls Technician with a Level of experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability to read and interpret machine prints and schematics for electrical, controls and instrumentation, fluid power systems, and HVAC.
- Assist in mechanical repairs and replacements involving ball screws, spindles, main spindle bearings, axis scales, and conveyors; as well as machine leveling and alignments.
- Capable of troubleshooting complex machines and process problems following a logical approach to identify and determine corrective actions, including root cause analysis of failures.
- Demonstrate knowledge and practices for proper task planning from the establishment of job scope to the determination of materials/part needs and proper sequence for execution of the task.
- Familiarity with CNC Mills, Grinders, and Lathes from manufacturers such as Giddings & Lewis, Gleason, Okuma, Daewoo-Puma, Bourn & Koch, OMV-Parpas, Palmary, and Nicolas Correa.
- Knowledge and experience with CNC control systems, variable frequency drives, PLCs, and relay control systems. Controls manufacturers such as Siemens, Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and ABB.
- Requires safe work habits and performance, advocacy for safe work conditions, ability to perform risk analysis, and determine safe methods for all conditions encountered.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Comfortable working at heights up to 40 feet.
- Computer skills, good verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and abilities to prepare machine condition reports.
- Day shift position but will be required to work some overtime days and weekend shifts, in addition to some holiday periods.
- Entrance testing to determine knowledge, aptitude, and suitability for the position.
- Must be able to pass a drug test and physical examination.
- Must provide on own tools (primarily hand tools but will be provided a minimum tool list). Large hand and power tools are company-provided.
- Work effectively within a Team and require limited supervision.
