Job Profile
The company is looking for a CNC Machine Operator who will safely machine and operate quality components using various types of machining centers.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- At least 1 year of machining experience, related to equipment, methods, tooling, gauging, etc.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Accurately monitor and record data as requested for labor reporting and inventory control.
- Assist all other employees in the department as needed.
- Be a respectful team player and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all team members and supervisors.
- Continuously observe machines, fixtures, peripheral equipment, gauging, materials, parts, etc., for obvious defects or malfunctions.
- Develop knowledge of proper handling techniques and use of coolants, monitor and maintain appropriate levels, and check refractory levels.
- Follow standard work, process sheets, and work instructions.
- Keep safety as a primary focus by working safely, following safety policies and work instructions, asking for help, promptly reporting safety concerns, and utilizing the Stop & Seek program, as required.
- Keep work area neat, clean, and organized using the 5S+Safety approach.
- Machine and control knowledge to operate all pieces of equipment within the department.
- Monitor for visual tooling defects, both work-holding and cutting tools, and ensure first piece approval.
- Monitor measured part dimensions; if discrepant, utilize “Stop & Fix” procedures to correct.
- Operate equipment within measured time elements.
- Perform de-burring or cleaning parts within measured time elements.
- Perform housekeeping duties including cleaning machines, fixtures, tooling, gauging, and peripheral equipment, as required to maintain parts and equipment within specified limits.
- Perform machine-specific tooling offsets of CNC machines.
- Positively and actively contribute to High Performance Teams (HPTs) by participating in Team Improvement Boards (TIB) reviews, problem solving, and task completion.
- Positively support change initiatives by actively contributing to and participating in lean principles and Kaizen events.
- Promote and practice 5S + Safety approach by keeping work area neat, clean, and organized, and following safety and housekeeping rules
- Replace and adjust existing tooling in a tool rest to maintain production within specifications.
- Submit waste reductions/cost avoidances.
- Perform other duties as responsibilities necessitate.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to adapt to changing roles and changing priorities
- Basic understanding of blueprint reading
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Work Environment
- A very loud environment with exposure to or use of chemicals, oils, vibration while using tools, and moving equipment.
Physical Demands
- Frequently will stand.
- Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds, walks, twists, grasps, reaches, and handles.
