Job Profile
The company is searching for a CNC Machinist who will be responsible for machining castings and other products that meet external quality requirements.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED
- Machinist Certification from a Technical School highly (preferred)
Work Experience
- 3-5 years of relevant machining experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensures paperwork is properly done.
- Identifies when changes with set-up procedures are necessary.
- Maintains lot integrity.
- Performs deburr operations.
- Performs dimensional inspection on a product using a CMM, calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Performs preventative maintenance on machining equipment.
- Performs visual and dimensional inspection of products per procedures.
- Sets up and operates CNC machining equipment.
- Sets up and operates manual machining equipment.
- Troubleshoots machining programs.
- Helps other areas as needed.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Able to apply concepts of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
- Able to communicate effectively with co-workers.
- Able to complete PCC Ogden Machinist certifications required in the grade system.
- Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. continuously.
- Able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. occasionally.
- Able to meet individual productivity requirements.
- Able to read and comprehend English.
- Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Able to write simple correspondence.
- Able to work in a production environment.
- Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Complies with company and departmental policies and procedures, including the company’s attendance policy.
- Conventional or CNC machinist certificate.
- Near vision requirement is Jaeger J1 in one eye, at no less than 12 inches; or equivalent, or Jaeger J2 in one eye, at no less than 16 inches. Corrected or uncorrected.
- Willing to work overtime as needed.
Working Conditions
- Continuous standing, reaching below shoulder level, and pushing or pulling are required.
- Environmental conditions encountered continuously include work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
- Makes decisions when general instructions, and established and clearly defined precedents indicate action to be taken but refer unusual problems to superiors.
- Occasional walking, using hands to handle or feel, reaching above shoulder level, stooping or squatting, talking, and hearing required.
- Typical noise required for the work environment of this job is Loud Noise. (appropriate ear protection is required.)
- Works under indirect supervision following established practices and clear-cut policies in the performance of most duties.
