Job Profile

The company is seeking a CNC Machinist who will be responsible for setting up and operating one or more NC or CNC machines to perform drilling, tapping, milling, boring, and other machine operations over a wide range of surfaces, diameters, and depths.

Job setups may be complex and require machining to very close tolerances.

The position will work under the direction of the Value Stream Manager and Manufacturing Supervisor.

Education Level

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Trade School experience in a related field (a plus)

Work Experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the 5S+1 program.
  • Check product for conformity to specifications and ensure proper handling of nonconforming product
  • Complete all necessary production documentation
  • Comply with all management systems set in place by ISO9001, ISO14001, and OHSAS18001.
  • Conduct light machine maintenance, such as checking oil and filling oil and coolant.
  • Deliver completed parts to designated areas.
  • Evaluate tool wear and make offsets as necessary
  • Keep the work area organized and clean up at the end of the shift.
  • Load and unload parts into the machine
  • Must adhere to all safety programs including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and LEAN activities.
  • Perform secondary operations, such as counter bore, drill press, arbor press, deburr, Burgmaster, sub-assemblies, and packaging.
  • Set up and run CNC mills and lathes
  • Tear down set up and return tooling and fixtures to the designated location.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written machining procedures.
  • Ability to use an electric pallet jack.
  • Knowledge of basic measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, hole tests, dial indicators, edge finders, height gauges, depth micrometers, and fixed gauges.
  • Knowledge of basic shop math.
  • Knowledge of blueprints and set-up sheets.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc controls and ability to read and follow programs, including feeds, speeds, G codes, and M codes.
  • Knowledge of proper use of hand tools.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to typical manufacturing areas and will require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses, and in some areas hearing protection may be required.
  • Must be mobile enough to navigate the manufacturing shop floor safely including walking and standing for up to four hours at a time.
  • May include their own workstation equipped with a computer as required for the job.

Physical Requirements

  • Continuous standing; repetitive motion of hand/wrist.
  • Intermittent bending; crouching; repetitive motion of elbow/shoulder; pushing/pulling.
  • Ability to lift 1-40 pounds independently.
