Job Profile

The company is seeking a CNC Machinist who will set up computerized numerically controlled machine tools and related equipment for machining operations for new product introduction and development.

Products will be the first articles and pilot lots for process verification.

Participates in problem-solving activities and contributes to quality improvements.

Operates machines when required.

Trains other department employees and provides performance assessment feedback to supervisor.

Actively promotes teamwork atmosphere and supports team development.

Education Level

  • Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus

Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of CNC setup experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • NPI and CNC machining experience (including setups)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Change cutting tools and location of workpieces during the machining process.
  • Detects and reports improper operation, faulty equipment, and unusual conditions.
  • Ensures quality of parts before forwarding them to the next operation/process.
  • Establish effective setup procedures and assist in creating work instructions for future production runs.
  • Learn and utilize advanced inspection systems such as the Keyence vision system.
  • Makes necessary adjustments to set-ups during operations to maintain accurate production.
  • Overtime may be requested or required based on need.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Management/Maintenance.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of his/her work area and the general housekeeping of the Company.
  • Run multiple CNC machines.
  • Set up and inspect the first article parts.
  • Solve technical machining problems to yield conforming products.
  • Use basic measurement tools to verify parts to customer drawings and 3D CAD models.
  • Utilize manual machines to manufacture parts for drawing and CAD models.
  • Work with CNC Programmers to develop sustainable and efficient machining programs.
  • Work with QC inspectors to troubleshoot nonconforming conditions.
  • Works from drawings, 3D CAD models, and programs developed by CNC Programmers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T blueprints.
  • Efficient at and general knowledge of G-code programming.
  • Efficient in CNC machining (Mills, Lathes, Grinders).
  • Efficient in common and complex metrology. Including CMMs, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Familiarity with HAAS controls.
  • Mandatory 4th-axis machining experience.
  • Prototyping and first-piece development experience.

Physical Demands

  • Continuous mental and visual attention is required.
  • Requires constant alertness or activity.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand and occasionally required to walk, sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to airborne particles and chemicals.
  • The noise level is usually loud.
  • Required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.
