Job Profile

The company is seeking a CNC Machinist who will support a broad range of activities in a dynamic, high-energy production environment in the fabrication of carbon steel and stainless-steel car bodies for the best rail vehicles in the world.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Start with getting certified in our in-house Weld Education Center. Work from engineering drawings to fit up and weld assemblies and sub-assemblies with the support of jigs and fixtures. Correct inspection findings. Meet production schedules with minimum supervision.
  • Under limited supervision, set up, and operate precision machines/Robotic Weld Cells to fabricate metallic parts or assemblies
  • Apply basic knowledge of welding theory and procedures and basic mathematics
  • Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on welding machines or worktables as required.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machine factors, such as wire feed speed, amperage, polarity, type of gas, and type of weld rod.
  • Operates and observes robots to detect malfunctions or non-conforming conditions.
  • Operates welding robot on a trial run to verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
  • Fits and assembles parts into a complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plates, surface tables, and hand tools.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications
  • Visually inspects to maintain quality records with minimum supervision.
  • Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and analysis of spot welds using the prescribed equipment.
  • Follows all safety procedures and wears safety equipment or apparel as required.
  • Performs all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards.
  • Performs daily maintenance and cleaning of machines and work cell per established checklists
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve welding or robot operation problems.
  • Torch and plasma equipment, overhead crane operations, pneumatic hand tools such as grinders, and air chisels.
