Educational Level

• Possess work-related experience (a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Manages high-speed drills and reamers that are stored in the Machine Shop
• Must perform daily routine maintenance as specified in startup procedures
• Must sharpen, grind, and maintain tools
• Performs simple layout work on rough and finished-machined parts such as castings, forgings, burn plates, and pipe for self-only
• Required to produce quality parts to proper specification according to blueprint or process
• Responsible for maintaining the work area/equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition
• Sets up and operates all manual machine shop equipment.
• Should the need arise, is adaptable to new machine tools that are added to the machine shop
• Works to required tolerances and directly from prints, specifications, and work instructions
• Performs closely related duties as assigned

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and work instructions
• Must be able to pass a written competency skills test at the time of the interview
• Must be willing to demonstrate ability to perform all job duties when required
• Must be willing to learn how to determine proper speeds and feeds under various operating conditions, relative to operations being performed
• Must have a working knowledge of general machine shop math
• Must have the necessary standard Machinist tools
