Job Profile
The company is seeking a CNC Maintenance Technician who will conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine the repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of machinery and equipment associated with machine operations.
Educational Qualification
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Experience
- 5+ years of aerospace or mechanical experience (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair CNC machines including 3 and 4-axis vertical Mills, conventional CNC lathes, and multi-axis CNC mill-turn machines.
- Complete planned and preventative procedures
- Complete testing and make adjustments of parts as needed
- Enter maintenance activities in appropriate log books; review logs for patterns that may indicate deeper maintenance issues; report potential problems to supervision
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Okuma, Celos, and Mazatrol CNC controllers.
- Follow daily and weekly work orders under the direction of supervision to prioritize maintenance and repair activities
- Identify and replace parts as necessary
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machine tool equipment and controls
- Maintain machines, machine pallets, tool carousels, and surrounding areas in a clean and orderly manner
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance by inspecting oil and coolant levels; clearing ducts and cavities of debris; inspecting hoses, belts, seals, and similar items for wear; chip removal; adjustment of machines to recommended settings as needed
- Repairs CNC Machinery, manual machines, and machining centers
- Troubleshoot hydraulics, electronics, and software, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
- Use machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal and vendor resources to research machine issues
- Work-based on a sense of urgency with machine-down conditions
- Perform special projects and other duties as required
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others
- Attention to detail
- Blueprint and schematic reading, basic shop math, General Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); familiar with metric and English systems of measurement
- Capable of using a variety of manufacturing tools and measuring devices
- Familiar with hand-held tools such as drills; able to operate drill press, mill, and lathe when required; light welding and fabrication as required
- General Tier II level aerospace machining and assembly concepts
- Good manual dexterity with the ability to maintain close tolerances
- Willingness to learn and, as required, help or train others
Work Environment
- Perform in a general office, manufacturing or plant floor, warehouse or stockroom, or outdoor environment.
- Infrequently exposed to wet, humid conditions, and all outdoor weather conditions. Physical hazards such as working near mechanical parts, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and risk of electric shock would be found in performing the required responsibilities of the position.
- Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, face shields, and additional personal protective equipment as needed, must be worn to eliminate the risks associated with these hazards. Travel is not required for this position.
- Ability to walk regularly, sit infrequently, hear/listen carefully infrequently, climb or balance infrequently, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl infrequently, twist infrequently at the trunk or neck, bend infrequently, reach with hands and arms infrequently, taste and use sense of smell infrequently, use hands to manipulate, handle or feel in the act of performing the required responsibilities of the position.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds infrequently.
- Visual acuity is needed for close detail work, clarity with distance, distinction with color, peripheral observation up and down/left and right, depth perception for distance and spatial relationships, and sharp focus of objects brought into line of sight.
- Mental dexterity is needed to work independently while demonstrating attention to detail and continuous awareness.
