Job Profile

The company is hiring a CNC Maintenance Technician who will determine methods and sequences of operations in order to maintain, repair, service and modify all types of Production machine tools and fabrication machines, such as PLC (Programable Logic Controller), NC (Numerical Control), CNC (Computer Numerical Control), DNC (Direct/Digital Numerical Control) machines, robots or other equipment, employing multiple types of advanced or conventional control systems exercising a working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and component functions.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Technical Certificates or equivalent combination of education/experience

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in performing maintenance of CNC machines
  • Professional work experience performing machine repairs, troubleshooting, and PM, with a knowledge of standard measuring equipment of an advanced nature

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing improvement and development of PM instructions and schedules to prevent failures.
  • Coordinate the repair of production precision mills and lathe machines. This includes electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform machine qualifications as required for installations and repairs.
  • Assemble and install mechanical equipment and systems such as production machinery/tools.
  • Knowledge of OEM machine controllers (FANUS, Siemens, and NIT)
  • Perform mechanical repairs (and rebuild) on all machines.
  • Working knowledge of tool-probing functions for CNC Lathe Machines.
  • Able to work with complex NC machines up to and including 5 axis.
  • Perform machine leveling and alignment on all machines.
  • Identify and replace parts as necessary.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machine tool equipment and controls.
  • Use machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal and vendor resources to research machine issues.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers and maintenance companies to ensure timely and accurate completion of work.
  • Work with a sense of urgency to minimize machine downtime.
  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of backup tooling, fixtures, components, etc. to keep the production equipment operating.
  • Ensure company safety policies and procedures are understood by employees and implemented consistently company-wide.
  • A strong industrial electronic background is required, as well as a CNC control aptitude.
  • Available for “On Call” responsibilities; weekends and after hours.
  • Properly document requests for services to allow efficient ongoing response to customer needs. This includes what the machine was doing, adjustments made, parts replaced, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to lift, stand, climb, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, stretch and carry.
  • Able to work while standing on lifts and ladders.
  • Communicate to the supervisor or other shifts to ensure continuity of ongoing projects and repairs.
  • Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, ladder and schematic diagrams, and general instructions to plan and layout test and repair procedures.
  • Knowledge of standard safety regulations.
  • Medical device, aerospace, or electronics manufacturing background desirable.
  • Understand mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS software for the machines.
