Job Profile
The company is looking for a CNC Operator who will be responsible for the setup and operation of our 3-axis vertical CNC milling machines.
Daily tasks performed include bandsaw operation, material preparation, and setting up and running their designated CNC machine.
CNC Operators will review CNC programs and part drawings ahead of manufacture to ensure quality parts are produced and function properly and meet customer expectations.
Education Level
- High School Diploma
- Technical or Vocational School Graduation with a manufacturing focus (preferred)
Work Experience
- 2+ years of machining experience (manual or CNC) is preferred
- Experience drafting or reading mechanical drawings
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (preferred)
- Experience with troubleshooting
- Manual lathe experience (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Inspect and measure finished components when necessary
- Inspect tooling to ensure quality manufacturing standards are met and replace tooling to manage breaks or excess wear
- Measure, mark, and debur raw materials to prep them for the manufacturing process.
- Operate bandsaw to cut aluminum and other raw materials for parts to be manufactured.
- Operate forklift to empty hoppers and unload/move material
- Operate overhead crane to move material
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
- Review CNC programs ahead of manufacture using CAD/CAM software to verify operations and processes are correct
- Review parts to be manufactured by reading and interpreting 2D and 3D drawings and models
- Supervise the machines during operation and adjust speed and feed rates as necessary to ensure part quality is maintained
- Utilize the internal system to fulfill bills of materials upon part completion
- Utilize part marking machine to engrave parts with their respective part and order numbers
Communication Quality-
- Utilize FactoryWiz software during hours of operation to ensure the upkeep of machine maintenance, equipment efficiencies, and part tracking
- Work with other CNC Operators to complete daily shop tasks such as the emptying of swarf containers and handling materials
- Work with the CNC Programmer to raise and correct potential issues with CNC programs
- Work with the CNC Supervisor to communicate machine issues, quality control issues, and others as necessary
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Able to pass a background check and drug test
- Able to problem-solve
- Forklift Certified preferred
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing processes
- Reliable transportation to work
- Skills in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
- Strong communication skills
- Strong time management and organization
- Valid United States driver’s license and clean driving record required to drive company vehicles preferred
Safety/Training
- Complete all proseal-assigned health and safety training courses
- Complete daily machine maintenance and safety checks as outlined by the CNC supervisor
- Ensure that company health and safety procedures are being adhered to daily. This must include reporting any health and safety concerns and near misses to the CNC Supervisor
Physical Requirements
- Work in a climate-controlled factory
- Stand continuously for long periods
- Wearing of safety clothing and equipment is required
- Able to kneel, bend, crouch, and climb ladders to access various parts of a machine
- Able to lift up to 60 lbs.
Work Environment
- Air-conditioned warehouse with concrete flooring. Working around machinery and forklifts
