Job Profile

The company is hiring a CNC Operator who will operate various equipment to drill predetermined sizes and patterns into steel plates and parts using automated gang drills, drill presses, and plasma drills.

Education Level

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

• A minimum of 3 years of experience of CNC set-up and programming experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is desired or graduation from an accredited trade school with 1 year of experience.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Actively participate in department safety, and demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors that conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures.
• Observes operation and periodically verifies conformance of machined work to process sheet, specifications, and blueprint data.
• Operates an automatic tool-changing single spindle drill press that is numerically controlled. Performs one or more of the following machine operations; drilling, reaming, countersinking, and spot-facing and tapping.
• Programs the automatic operation and verifies dimensions from shop drawings.
• Performs other duties as directed by leaders and management.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• A thorough knowledge of drilling procedures and practices is essential to ensure the quality of the product. This will include the ability to calculate formulas using basic mathematics, standard U.S., and Metric Measurements.
• Ability to read and decipher blueprints without assistance and use them to properly lay out and drill shop projects.
• Able to prioritize work to complete deadlines. They must also be able to work through problems with the minimum amount of assistance from the lead person or the supervisor. This will include maintaining a clean work area.
• At the end of 90 Calendar days, the candidate must be able to maintain an acceptable level of production, quality, and attendance as determined by Management.
