Job Profile

The company is looking for a CNC Operator I who will set up computerized numerically controlled machine tools and related equipment for machining operations.

Participates in problem-solving activities and contributes to quality improvements.

Operates machines when required.

Trains other department employees and provides performance assessment feedback to supervisor.

Takes initiative to stimulate team-based quality and productivity improvement activities, supporting the basis for continuous improvement.

Actively promotes teamwork atmosphere and supports team development.

Education Level

  • Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus

Work Experience

  • 1 to 3 years of CNC setup experience
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Mandatory 4th-axis machining experience
  • Understanding of and experience with offsets and adjusting them
  • Understanding of and experience with the G52 line in the CNC program
  • Experience with edge finder and dial indicator

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assists operators on which dimensions to inspect, (proper tools and gauges).
  • Change cutting tools and location of workpieces during the machining process.
  • Detects and reports improper operation, faulty equipment, and unusual conditions.
  • Detects and reports significant variances in job standards.
  • Ensures quality of parts before forwarding them to the next operation/process.
  • Installs cutting tools and various work-holding devices to handle the size of stock to be machined.
  • Makes necessary adjustments to set-ups during operations to maintain accurate production.
  • Operates and adjusts machines until parts produced conform with specifications and time standards.
  • Performs secondary operations as defined by the traveler, using various machines/tools such as files, drill presses, and sanders.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Management/Maintenance.
  • Responsible for completeness of secondary setups.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of his/her work area and the general housekeeping of the Company.
  • Run multiple CNC machines.
  • Set up and inspect the first article part on any proven program and turn it in for Quality Assurance verification at an 80% approval rate.
  • Upon completion of the “First Article of Verification” trains and monitors the work of the operator assigned to that machine.
  • Works from drawings, blueprints, job layouts, or other written specifications, determine feeds, speeds, tooling, and operational sequences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints is a must.

Physical Demands

  • Continuous mental and visual attention is required.
  • Requires constant alertness or activity.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand and occasionally required to walk, sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to airborne particles and chemicals.
  • The noise level is usually very loud.
  • Required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.
