Job Profile
The company is searching for a CNC Operator to join its team for manufacturing needs.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
- Possess 2+ years of experience in steel fabrication-related environment
- CNC Software programs
- Experience in welding processes (SAW, FCAW, GMAW)
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to read tape measures and rulers in increments of 1/16”
- Basic mathematic ability to add and subtract fractions, decimals, and whole numbers.
- Maintains a clean and safe working area.
- Must be familiar with Safety and OSHA requirements within a welding environment.
- Must have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a fabrication and weld shop.
- Performs job duties in a safe manner and according to company safety procedures.
- Reports potential safety hazards to supervisor immediately and actively participate in resolutions.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability to work closely with Quality Department concerning min. thickness, roundness, NDE requirements, and scheduling
- Coordinate material requirements with forklift operator.
- Issue plate, rolled material, saw cut material lengths, and associated drops to corresponding job/work order.
- Monitors inventory levels on consumables, i.e. saw blades, coolant, and lubrication, and reports to a supervisor.
- Operates overhead cranes, forklifts, and other lifting equipment.
- Operates portable power tools such as large and small grinders.
- Operates stationary tools such as bench grinder, iron worker, drill press, and chop saw.
- Perform routine inspections on equipment and components.
- Reports problems to line supervisor and actively participates in resolutions.
- Transcribe work orders, parts, and heat numbers to material drop and traceability documents.
- Verify the material grade and size match the cut list prior to cutting.
- Setup and operate at least three of the following pieces of steel processing equipment-
-Large Plate Rolling machine
-CNC Plasma Plate Cutting Table
-CNC Vertical Mitering Band Saw with bar feeder
-OxyFuel Plate Cutting Table
-Small Plate Rolling machine
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Knowledge of steel material grades
Working Conditions
- Driving, walking, and standing frequently
- Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions, and some heavy lifting
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
