Job Profile

The company is looking for a CNC Programmer who will be responsible for the management and execution of customer quotations, including the selection of tooling, and determination of programming component geometry of parts.

Be responsible for the setup, operation, and making of complex cuts on the CNC Machine Tool Wood Router maximizing cuts and yields.

Education Level

  • Minimum High School Education

Work Experience

  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience working with a CNC machine tool with a focus on FANUC-controlled driven CNC Machine


  • Checks processed lumber to ensure the operation is producing to required job specifications
  • Communicates to employees and other management members as required
  • Dedicated fixtures
  • Determines how workpieces are to be clamped or help during machine processing cycles such as:
  • Determines the proper type of tool cutting bit to be used in the routing/boring/pocketing cycles
  • Directs and trains other employees working on the machine, as needed
  • Evaluates the performance of individuals operating the equipment
  • Identifies, researches, and resolves various problems and opportunities
  • Leads employees in continuous improvement and safety initiatives
  • Manages activities and performs duties consistent with all UFP policies, procedures, and applicable laws
  • Manages cost and profitability of the machining center
  • Manages the productivity of the machining center
  • Orders tooling
  • Performs minor preventive maintenance and repairs as specified
  • Prepares reports and maintains records as required
  • Prepares spoil boards for use and manages operations when they are to be changed and replaced
  • Programs the CNC Machine Router
  • Reads and analyzes job orders, prints, drawings, and customer specifications
  • Risers and or pods
  • Spoil board and flow through vacuum hold-down methods
  • Stores programming files and is responsible for file management
  • Utilizes tools such as touch probes, calibration programs, and height gages to set machine tools for tool changes and cutting processes
  • Works with plant and operations employees on storage methods of raw materials
  • Works with sales and industry specialists to ensure that customer requirements are met
  • Performs other duties as required


  • Basic knowledge of Cartesian coordinate graphic systems is required
  • Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and materials, and species
  • Fundamental working knowledge of AutoCAD software is required
  • Understanding and interpretation of the various Machine Codes for FANUC controlled CNC Machines
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM engineering software
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and other business software
