The company is seeking a CNC Programmer to join the Energy team and contribute to the mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

Education Level

  • Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus

Work Experience

  • At least 5 years of CNC Mill programming experience – Haas CNC experience required, DMG experience (highly desired)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Machine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials with tight deadlines
  • Maintain shop equipment as required as well as maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Operate other machine shop equipment such as a manual mill, bandsaw, shear, cold saw, drill press, etc.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects for the shop and Tesla as well as perform all assignments in accordance with EH&S and security policies
  • Program and run 3-axis CNC Mills and CNC Lathes in a low volume/high mix workflow
  • Provide feedback to engineers, other machinists and programmers on design and process improvement as well as root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Use various inspection and measurement tools to validate your work as well as tracking and documentation of machining processes and results when necessary

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience with CAM software – Master CAM, Solid works
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to develop and present technical information
  • Proficient with basic shop tools and machines (manual mill, engine lathe, drill press, bandsaw, belt sanders, hand tools etc.)
  • Sheet metal fabrication – laser table or waterjet, brake press, sheet metal hand tools are desired but not required
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents, and GD&T as well as thorough knowledge in the use of measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, bore gauges, optical comparator, etc.

Salary Scales

  • CNC Programmer I – $23.73 – $35.60/hour
  • CNC Programmer II – $25.16 – $37.74/hour
  • CNC Programmer III – $32.98 – $49.47/hour
  • CNC Programmer IV – $38.08 – $57.12/hour
  • Lead CNC Programmer – $44.20 – $66.30/hour
