Job Profile

The company is hiring a CNC Programmer who will be responsible for programming all CNC machines to cut and bend metal parts.

Plans workflow to maximize material usage and labor efficiency, working with designs to ascertain which parts can be made given current machinery capabilities.

Demonstrate high levels of responsibility and accountability, working effectively and efficiently.

Education Level

  • Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus

Work Experience

  • At least 1 year of experience operating CNC laser/plasma cutting machines, press brakes, and other machinery required in the fabrication of parts.
  • CNC Programming certificate or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • Basic CAD modeling software experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Be a top performer in workmanship, safety, and work ethics; possessing an excellent understanding of company operating procedures and policies with a commitment to put them into practice.
  • Become a technical expert in the programming, operation, and maintenance of fabrication machinery, equipment, and software.
  • Communicate plans with supervisors and leads for implementation.
  • Continually optimize part programs to improve the efficiency of material usage and labor.
  • Develop plans and schedules to maximize utilization, work center loading, on-time delivery, organization, and material flow for all fabrication work centers.
  • Drive improvements and quality by tracking measurements for programming, machine efficiency, and material utilization/scrap.
  • Effectively communicate with Engineering teams to explain whether a part is possible to make with current machine configurations.
  • Ensure CAD models are incorporated into programming software with no errors and that models comply with the software.
  • Make parameter adjustments in software to optimize machinery to ensure smooth operation and quality of parts.
  • Record and track production data and key performance indicators.
  • Revise and track program revisions due to engineering changes.
  • Train team members in new products, programming techniques, and other related issues.

  • Work in a team environment with little or no supervision.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment.
  • Fill in during team member absences.

Machines Typically Operated

  • Computer, laser cutting machine, plasma cutting machine, press brake, overhead crane, forklift.
  • Other CNC machines and equipment.
  • Other machines and equipment specific to department or facility needs.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read instructional drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional understanding of fabricating shop safety and possible hazards.
  • Proficient in all types of measuring tools as required.
  • Proficient in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Windows and file management systems.
