Job Profile

The company is searching for a CNC Programmer who will produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Requires the use of computer numerically controlled or CNC programs to be used for automating machinists’ tools by using computer-generated electronic data.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED
  • College Degree (preferred)

Work Experience

  • Possess 5+ years of experience in 2D programming on both lathe and mill
  • 5 years of machine background with rotating equipment or turbomachinery (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience working with 5-axis milling (Haas machinery a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop efficient CNC programs to machine precision parts.
  • Write and optimize CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis machining.
  • Must fully understand G and M CNC programming codes.
  • Continuously improve manufacturing process by ensuring product quality, and reduced cycle times and lead times.
  • Regulate machining factors of speed, feed, torque, and coolant flow.
  • Create and compile all necessary documents to aid in programming.
  • Experience in CNC machine setup and tool selection.
  • Ability to program using Solid Models.
  • Live to a tool (a plus)
  • Utilizes Mastercam 2022 for regular parts and Max-Pac for wheel 5-axis programming
  • Extensive use of calipers, micrometers, or any precision measuring instrument.
  • Experience with HAAS CNC Mills and Lathe machines and HAAS Trunion or similar 5-axis CNC machines (a plus)
  • Creates instructions for machinists.
  • Reviews 3D CAD design blueprints.
  • Makes calculations for programming including where materials should be cut.
  • Translates instructions into a computer-automated manufacturing (CAM) program.
  • Checks completed programs by running simulations or tests.
  • Prepares geometric layout of designs using the proper software.
  • Makes improvements to set up times for a task and contouring of complex shapes.
  • Monitors all programs to make sure they follow blueprint instructions and safely and successfully complete the task.

  • Ability to work with tight tolerances
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of staff
  • Ability to perform tooling setups (a plus)
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Complies with all safety rules and regulations
  • Must have excellent organization, verbal and written communication
  • Proficient in excel and outlook
  • Proficient in Mastercam 2018 or newer
  • Proficient in Max-Pac for wheel 5-axis programming (a plus)

Work Environment

  • Regularly required to stand, walk or balance, use hands and fingers to type, handle, feel, grasp, push, pull, and talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and repetitive motion.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • May occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Subject to an uncontrolled manufacturing shop with environmental conditions, which could expose the associate to heat and cold weather, noise, and oils as well as subjected to hazards such as but not limited to, moving parts and vehicles, heat and chemicals, and electrical current.
