Job Profile

The company is hiring a CNC Set-Up Operator with the ability to perform CNC machine set-up and operation.

This position may also be required to create and edit CNC programs.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants may require a High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant CNC machining experience
  • Aerospace experience (a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conduct all set-up and quality operations in support of machining for self and others.
  • Set up and operate machines in accordance with process sheets and any other required paperwork (i.e. drawings, specifications, etc.).
  • Create, edit, or retrieve CNC programs from system files and execute them.
  • Adjust machine controls and change tool settings to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.
  • Inspect sample workpieces to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Start milling machines or turning machines and observe operations to ensure that specifications are met.
  • Position, secure, and align cutting tools in tool holders on machines, using hand tools, and verify their positions with measuring instruments.
  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Measure dimensions of completed products or work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.

Use Manufacturing Paperwork to-

  • Advise supervision of issues that arise.
  • Correctly process work via required paperwork and MRP system.
  • Identify set-up reduction opportunities and Lean process opportunities and communicate to supervision.
  • Manufacture product that meets quality requirements. Inspect and verify work prior to submitting it for inspection. If non-conforming, process via non-conforming material procedures
  • Meet time and schedule standards for assigned work
  • Perform non-CNC tasks when necessary: non-CNC equipment operation, hand-work operations, inspections, saw-cut operations, etc.
  • Properly use the MRP system to record job information. Assist supervision in workforce compliance with MRP reporting. Identify issues and opportunities in meeting the cost requirements of assigned work.
