Job Profile
The company is seeking a CNC Waterjet Operator who will set up and operate a 2-axis or 5-axis computer-numerical control (CNC) machine to cut and fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
Education Level
- High School Diploma
Work Experience
- Up to 3 years of related experience in job function or training; equivalent Combination of Education and experience
- Prior CNC operator experience is helpful
Duties/Responsibilities
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed and feed
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems
- Ensure all required preventive maintenance is completed on waterjet machines and cranes.
- Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests unit operation to ensure functionality and performance.
- Measures sheet size of material; compares material identification number on work order to material markings and to material computer nest to ensure the proper material is being cut.
- Responsible for properly handling and managing hazardous waste generated in their work area.
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on the machine.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
- Performs other duties and assignments as directed.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Ability to operate a hoist
- Ability to use measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, indicators, and scales
- Basic computer knowledge and skills
- Math skills – decimals, percentages, fractions
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars
