The company is recruiting a Combination Welder to join its team.
Education Level
- Not indicated, a High School Diploma (a plus)
Work Experience
- Must have 4+ years of experience welding on industrial size and grade pipe (Schedules: 40, 80, and 160)
Weld Test/Certification
- HBZ-651x, HBZ-600x, HBZ-201x (required)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Bolts, clamps, and tack-welded parts to secure in position for welding.
- Identify all equipment for the job and process.
- Identify all safety risks and requirements.
- Lay out, position, align, cut, assemble, and fit metal components together in various body positions and in various places.
- Selects equipment and plans layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
- Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas arc welding equipment.
- Weld metal materials to piping systems equipment using the appropriate welding procedure for the various equipment and metal types involved.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Zachry Certification
- Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee
- Experience working as an Industrial Pipe Fitter
- Former experience working on a new construction project
- Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
- Previous experience in this position with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Must be able to assist pipe fitters in pipe installation, preparation, and fabrication while not actively welding.
- Must be able to read and interpret technical manuals as applicable.
- Must be able to read blueprints and other engineering drawings to perform efficiently.
- Must be able to Stick and Tig weld on Pipe.
- Must be able to work at heights as required.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of various metals’ characteristics and qualities, including the correct welding processes required and the effects of welding on the material.
- Must have experience welding multiple types of pipe including but not limited to carbon steel, stainless, and chrome.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have the ability to weld in 2g, 4g, and 6g conditions.
- Must successfully pass a weld test.
Work Environment
- May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold, and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots.
- Talk and listen to communicate.
- Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
