Job Profile

The company is seeking a Component Quality Technologist who will be responsible for inspecting fabricated parts, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies, including painted components, made from various machines such as shears, punch presses, and welding work centers.

Required to work with assembly and detailed prints, industry standards, routings, BOMs, specifications, instruction bulletins, and customer notes.

Inspecting the products will require you to use various pieces of inspection equipment and the ability to select the appropriate measuring equipment such as tape measures, go/no go gages, special gages, torque wrenches, thread plug gages, fluke meters, and fuse holder standards.

Educational Level

Work Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience inspecting in a Manufacturing Environment

Duties/Responsibilities

  • An awareness of necessary safety practices and procedures.
  • Complete recording of abnormalities on the checklists, DPU reports, or non-conforming material reports.
  • Completing checklist accurately to maintain smooth part flow.
  • Inspecting assembly line WIP.
  • Inspecting fabricated parts.
  • Inspecting final assemblies.
  • Inspecting sub-assemblies.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of housekeeping.
  • Performing assembly line station audits

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to change your start times on short notice as needed.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to inspect from elevated heights when necessary.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to navigate to E-Docs and Operating System Documents on SharePoint or E-Vault.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings for fabricated parts, mechanical assemblies, and specials.
  • Ability to support departmental team members on short notice.
  • Ability to use a pallet jack and ladder safely.
  • Ability to use a resistance meter.
  • Ability to use basic dimensional measuring tools.
  • Ability to use shop math.
  • Ability to work independently in a service-oriented environment.
  • Basic understanding of GD& T Basic MS Outlook skills.
  • Willingness to learn software such as Oracle, Compliance Quest (QMS), and SmarTeam.

Physical Demands

  • Bending: Frequent bending and crouching required
  • Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from ¼ to 40 lbs.
  • Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in size from ¼ to 40 lbs.
  • Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from ¼ to 40 lbs.
  • Pulling: Frequent use of cart to transport material
  • Pushing: Frequent use of cart to transport material
  • Reaching: Occasional full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees
  • Standing: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with frequent walking.
  • Walking: Frequent walking short distances (total one to two miles)
