Job Profile

The company is looking for a Construction Laborer who will be responsible for the specialized construction of segmental retaining wall systems.

Education Level

• High School Diploma or GED (strongly preferred)
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older

Work Experience

• Generally, 2-5 years of experience in the area of responsibility

License/Certification

• Specialized skills training/certification (may be required)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Confirm payroll hours with the direct supervisor before the end of each payroll period to confirm accuracy.
• Hooking chains, stacking, straightening, leveling, and shimming blocks to build a level wall consistent with the construction documents.
• Identify incorrect/short-shipped items and immediately notify the supervisor.
• Maintain an understanding of all the products that are used on a retaining wall project, and how to use them.
• Maintains the condition of the work area (i.e., free of trash, product in correct location, etc.). Follows company safety policies and procedures and encourages other associates to do the same.
• Operate skid-steer or excavator to transport and place materials where designated by supervisor.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance such as changing oil, greasing fittings, changing filters, changing tracks, etc.
• Place all materials necessary during the construction of the retaining wall system, such as block, geo-grid, fabric, drainage pipe, etc.
• Placing, raking, and shoveling stone to build a level footer for placing segmental block.
• Unloads materials on site that are to be used in the construction of retaining walls.

• Ability to understand written material and basic math skills
• Ability to work with others in a group, cooperate with others, offer to help when needed, and foster a team climate within the group where members are committed to a common goal.

• Knowledge of machines and tools

Work Environment

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, but not limited to, using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
• However, the hotel bills are covered by the employer, and employees are at home on the weekend.
• Outdoor environment with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes, which may cause noticeable discomfort.
• Typically requires overnight travel and hotel stays during the week. Employees are typically out of town more than 50% of weekdays.
