Job Profile

The company is searching for a Construction Millwright who will move, build, install, and demolish equipment and mechanical services.

Daily work activity is directed by the Group Leader and a Construction Millwright A.

Reports directly to the department Manager.

Education Level

  • High School Education or Equivalent

Work Experience

  • Must have a basic level of knowledge and experience in proper piping materials, methods, and installation.
  • Must have a basic level of knowledge and experience in proper welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Must have a basic level of knowledge and experience in rigging, leveling, and lagging of machinery.
  • Must have a basic level of knowledge and experience reading mechanical drawings and installation manuals.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Adjust schedule and work hours to accomplish the desired result, must be able to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Assist with keeping neat and orderly records of work performed.
  • Installs, modifies, moves, and dismantles machinery and equipment according to requisition documentation, layout plans, blueprints, or other drawings.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all applicable procedures and safety measures.
  • Order construction material as required.
  • Oversee construction contract and service work as assigned.
  • Perform field welding and fabrication during equipment installations or modifications.
  • Perform work assignments efficiently while being consistent with good safety practices.
  • Performs all tasks under general supervision.
  • Performs installations and demolition on buildings, mechanical equipment, and utility systems using one or more trade skills (e.g., mechanical, plumbing, carpentry).
  • Prepares installation site by constructing foundations, and aligning and fastening machinery to the foundation using hoists, dollies, rollers, trucks, tools, squares, rules, and micrometers.
  • Provides training and assistance to less experienced Millwrights.
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor.
  • Responsible for safely demolishing unused equipment and services.
  • Review, understand, and follow all Company specifications and procedures, and regulatory rules and requirements that are associated with the performance of this job.
  • Work with Engineering, Production Team Leads, Managers, Group Leaders, and fellow tradesmen to accomplish the desired result.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s Future Strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned by the department Manager.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to use various measuring devices (tape measure, micrometers, levels, plumb bobs, etc.)
  • Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Excellent attendance is required.
  • May be required to operate basic shop equipment (hoist, forklift, scissor lift, etc.)
  • Must be able to understand and interpret the specifications and procedures related to this job.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator.
  • Must be able to work in confined areas, climb ladders, and work at heights of 50 feet.
  • Must be willing to continuously improve technical skills and knowledge.
  • Must possess a basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Must possess good organizational and communication skills.
  • Team oriented, self-motivated, safety and quality conscious; requiring minimal supervision.
