Job Profile
The company is looking for a Construction Technician who will support the internal construction crew completing pipeline integrity activities such as recoats, reinforcement sleeves, cutouts, wraps, etc., in TC’s operational footprint.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- 2 years of work experience in a construction-related environment
License/Certification
- Able to obtain or currently hold a valid CDL license
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist with ordering and maintaining the inventory of project consumables
- Collect, complete, review, and submit various project paperwork
- Complete and assist pipeline repairs
- Complete constructability, safety, and compliance reviews for projects
- Gather MTRs for all materials that apply to a project
- Operate equipment (forklift, skid steer, telehandler) on ROW and shop as needed
- Operate power tools such as drills, grinders, torches, etc.
- Perform red line reviews and work with internal/external engineering as needed
- Support the Construction Planner on information gathering, quotations, and project tracking
- Track and document certifications, calibrations, and op quals
- Other tasks as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a 2-3 year vocational/technical training program
- Computer proficiency (Windows, Word, email)
- Pipeline or construction industry experience
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to develop an understanding of Company practices and procedures and apply them on-site
- Ability to obtain Operator Qualifications as required for specific tasks assigned
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively, such as drills, grinders, torches, etc.
- Ability to perform physically demanding duties as required
- Ability to work effectively in a construction environment
- Demonstrated concern for people, utilizing effective interpersonal skills
- Great work attitude
- High degree of respect for safe work habits
- Strong planning and organization skills
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Work Environment
- Frequent travel to other company locations to support construction activities, which will involve overnight stays away from home
