Job Profile

The company is hiring a Control Engineer who will provide programming, installation, and maintenance to new and existing production equipment.

Must be proficient in Siemens PLCs

Education Level

  • 2 or 4-year Degree in mechanical engineering or related field

Work Experience

  • 4 years of job-related experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and make recommendations on new and existing equipment updates
  • Exemplify a Safety-First approach by obeying safety rules and procedures, wearing PPE at all times, and immediately addressing all safety concerns. Promote an environment where zero injuries is the expected standard
  • Follow and support Magna Body & Chassis and Magna’s operating principles
  • Implement improvements in cycle time of robotic welding and assemblies
  • Set up new programs, PLC ladder logic, robot interfacing, and documentation
  • Support efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey
  • Support quality and environmental policies
  • Train personnel in the use of robots and PLCs
  • Troubleshoot programming failures and make adjustments as necessary
  • Work with vendors or contractors, displaying the company’s core values

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts as appropriate
  • Ability to communicate with others, both verbal and written
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groups
  • Able to clearly and effectively respond to questions from management and customers
  • Able to prepare, read, write, and interpret reports, instructions, technical procedures, blueprints, diagrams, and business correspondence
  • Electrical knowledge (National Electrical Code) and control wiring
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships with associates, customers, and vendors
  • Intermediate computer skills required
  • Must exhibit high integrity and honesty
  • Must have good organizational skills
  • Proven knowledge of PLCs and programming with the ability to program/teach robots
  • Solid knowledge of metal stamping, spot welding, and assembly processes

Physical Demands

  • Involves physical activity, which occasionally requires strenuous activity.
  • Involves frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, and reaching.
