Job Profile

The company is seeking a Counter Sales Associate who will handle the retail store by selling products to businesses and industrial customers.

Educational Level

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years old

Work Experience

  • 1+ years of Customer Service or Sales experience
  • Computer experience or basic knowledge of computer order entry systems.
  • Prior knowledge of welding (preferred)
  • Industry experience or related product knowledge as well as experience handling compressed gasses (preferred)
  • Must have at least 1 year of CDL Class A or B driving experience with like equipment or graduated from an accredited Truck Driving School.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Act as Backup Driver when necessary.
  • Assist customers with loading/unloading cylinders, and provide guidance on equipment use and needed materials.
  • Assisting customers through email, telephone, and walk-ins.
  • Coordinate cylinder and hard goods deliveries, and maintain showroom displays.
  • Ensure accurate completion of paperwork, including coding, costing, and pricing.
  • Foster strong customer relations, addressing inquiries and providing cost/ordering/delivery information.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, and adhere to safety and administrative procedures.
  • Manage accounts receivable, discussing past-due accounts and collecting payments.
  • Monitor and maintain proper hard goods and cylinder levels to minimize emergencies.
  • Operate equipment like forklifts as required.
  • Periodically deliver products to various business, industrial, and medical gas customers.
  • Sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment to customers.
  • Solicit sales from new and existing customers, managing associated paperwork for future reference.
  • Stocking Shelves
  • Support inventory management, housekeeping, displays, and demonstrations.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Capable of routinely lifting 25-75 lbs. and occasionally lifting over 100 lbs. Also, required to push and pull liquid containers weighing up to 1000 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and repetitive motions are integral.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the Company.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and to calculate percent.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must possess a Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT, or ability to get appropriate license and endorsements within 30 days.
  • Occasionally, the employee will engage in activities like climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and fine motor tasks such as tightening ratchet binders.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.

Physical Demands

  • Requires specific visual capabilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly stand, walk, and sit.
  • Use their hands for deliveries, involving handling and feeling items.
  • Reach, talk, and hear while interacting with customers, and be alert to the smell of leaking gas from cylinders.
